Katie Holmes upgrades her favorite sub-$100 Banana Republic jeans and turtleneck with “Wicked” green coat
As the only immediately visible layer in the midst of winter, a statement coat is a window to the soul, or at least a window to personal style. Recently, Sydney Sweeney chose knit puffs for coziness and chic, while Kendall Jenner's scarf coat doubled down on her loyalty to The Row. Katie Holmes, on the other hand, told the world that “Defying Gravity” is stuck in her head (and feels familiar) with Elphaba Green's wool coat.
Holmes pulled out her single-breasted slime-slut slime “Wicked” corset to head to a performance of “Our Town” in New York City on December 15. According to the Daily Mail, she posed with a Wicked poster on her way to her own Broadway show.
Of course, Holmes' look has more than the right palette for a short day in the Emerald City. Underneath it all, he strategically showcased Banana Republic's best pieces for under $100, with styling possibilities that will last long after “Wicked” leaves the theater.
Underneath the coat, which coordinated with the larger piece, Holmes layered a familiar Banana Republic tissue turtleneck and wide-leg jeans. These two items were also featured on the actress' famous neighborhood walk in October. At that time, she wore a butter yellow tone with a Banana Republic blazer coat.
Holmes' walk to and from the Barrymore Theater was the equivalent of her winter runway during the limited run of Our Town. The actor and A.P.C. guest designer casually modeled everything from a Birkin look-alike bag to a winterized version of the Bermuda shorts craze as she walked to the stage door. Her coat for Sunday strolls says method dress is perfectly acceptable, even if you're just in the audience of Wicked or streaming the soundtrack on your way to work. After all, according to Marie Claire's latest Winter Trend Report, the influence of bright green in fashion is “limitless.” (But wear timeless jeans and a turtleneck underneath, just in case.) [9
