Are “Ultimatum” Season 3's Caleb Lefteris and Mariah Zelnick still dating?
“Ultimatum” Season 3 Episodes 1-8 spoilers ahead. Of all the couples in “Ultimatum” Season 3, Caleb Lefteris and Mariah Zelnick are probably the easiest to root for. Like the other pairs, Caleb and Mariah have some issues to resolve before they decide to get married. She is ready to be a wife at the tender age of 24, while Caleb is a bit more hesitant. But with the Season 3 finale just around the corner, fans are speculating that the couple will make it to the altar. Here's a look at Caleb and Mariah in “Love is Blind” Season 3, including hints as to whether or not they will end the season engaged.
Two years into their relationship, 24-year-old Mariah gave 29-year-old Caleb an ultimatum. Mariah seems emotionally intelligent beyond her age and is clearly aware that she wants marriage and children. Caleb, on the other hand, is concerned that she may be rushing things.
Before they “break up,” Caleb thinks about the future and shares his worry that she may resent him when she turns 40 and realizes she has not had time to focus on herself. This moment hints that Caleb is thinking about the two of them in the long term, looking toward the future rather than the present. However, Mariah also mentions that communication has been an issue for her and that she feels she has not felt secure enough from him in the past.
After a week of speed dating, Mariah thinks that she and Micah can try to build a friendship and learn from each other in a trial marriage. Meanwhile, Caleb hits it off with Aria; the two have similar upbringings and are quick to be vulnerable. After the Choice Dinner, Mariah and Micah, and Caleb and Aria are ready to begin their trial marriage. However, just a few days after the timeline begins, Micah drops off the show with his girlfriend Chanel and another couple, Dave and Vanessa. Mariah is left alone for a three-week trial marriage, during which she sees Nick occasionally. The rest of Mariah's scenes before she reunites with Caleb are Nick-centric, so the only clips we get of how she spent her time are clips of her reading self-help books like Jay Shetty's “Eight Rules of Love”.
Aria and Caleb's trial marriage is the easiest of the hypothetical couples; they have chemistry and discuss serious topics like trust issues and communication styles in between skin care sessions together. Plus, they both make it clear that the other person is nothing like their “ex-boyfriend.”
On Caleb's part, Aria is more independent and suspicious than Mariah. At one point, Caleb says that Mariah has “blind faith” that he is the right person for her, which he finds a little scary. Later, Caleb admits that part of his hesitation to marry is due to his worry about whether he will be a good husband and father. Theoretically, the Ultimatum process is about such introspection.
But it could also be argued that the trial marriage is designed to spur wandering eyes and jealousy: the two begin platonically, but Aria develops a bit of a crush. Caleb also admits in his confession that they have an emotional connection.
However, before the girls' night, Caleb does not want Aria to tell Mariah that they have an emotional connection. Caleb does not want to tell Mariah that they have formed an emotional connection, but Aria wants to be honest with Mariah. So, after the girls' night out, Mariah worries that Aria and Caleb may have formed a stronger emotional connection than she and Caleb had at that point.
That potential Mariah-Caleb-Aria love triangle adds some friction when everyone returns to their original partners after the changeover. Caleb continues to assure her that there is nothing more than friendship between him and Aria. Perhaps he is focusing on the fact that he has no intention of pursuing a relationship with her, but Mariah can see that her confusion about his and Aria's standing is justified. Mariah, however, understands that her confusion about his and Aria's standing is legitimate. Caleb wants to break up the discussion and keep the mood pleasant rather than serious, but Mariah does not want to stay to delve into her concerns, including communication issues.
Eventually Mariah breaks down and expresses that the negative energy between them since their reunion has been frustration with how difficult the Ultimatum process has been. On their last date, the couple cuddles while fishing and acknowledges that they need to work through their anxiety with each other instead of bringing it into their love life. (Hopefully this is the healthiest example of Ultimatum in the program to date.)
While we'll have to wait until the Season 3 finale and reunion on December 18 to fully reveal whether Caleb and Mariah are engaged after Ultimatum, there are some social media clues: the two are currently following each other, and sharp-eyed A keen-eyed Redditor discovered a recent couple photo of the two on Mariah's second Instagram page, which is currently set to private; there is no way to verify the Reddit post and no way to know when the photo was taken, but fans are speculating that Caleb and Mariah are in the midst of a season 3 happy We're guessing it's the perfect opportunity.
