Blake Lively makes such a different impression with a bowl cut.

Team MC has said it before (opens in new tab), but we'll say it again: Blake Lively is the owner of some of Hollywood's most envied hairstyles. We counted down her most iconic looks (opens in new tab) and even nailed her favorite hair tools (opens in new tab) for 2016. And naturally, I cringed when she posted this shag-cut selfie on Instagram a few minutes ago. Of course, this dramatic hair change was for her starring role in the movie The Rhythm Section. But Blake in the bowl cut seriously looks like a different person, so it's truly a transformation within a transformation.

Her caption, "Facetune broke," gives off that vibe. This salt-and-pepper striped cut is a far cry from her signature glamorous barrel curls and 80s-style ringlets. She commissioned make-up from artist Vivienne Baker (opens in new tab). Marie Claire's deputy editor Jenny pointed out that the photo at right reminds her of the role Lively played in "Simple Favors." Agreed.

Look, we don't know if she really cut her hair. I am 80% sure this is a wig, because it would be a crime to cut the hair on her stunning head! The commenters are curious as well. In any case, all that has been confirmed is that she looks unrecognizable." Wow, guys, ...... This is why I don't recognize her," one user wrote in the comments.

"Is that really you on the right side?

As you can see from this Instagram video, she has many different hairstyles in the film:

Lively embodies the role with next-level looks. The question is... Is if you're going to see the movie?" opens in theaters on January 31.
