Prince Charles “ends” Prince Andrew in yet another scandal.
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past five years, you are well aware that Prince Andreu does not have a very good track record when it comes to companionship (see: Jeffrey Epstein). But the disgraced Duke of York is once again in a tight spot after it was revealed that he has strong ties to a suspected Chinese spy. And now it seems that King Charles, who previously extended an “olive branch” to his brother, is trying to take it back for the vacations.
According to the Times, following recent news about his brother's friendship with businessman Yang Tengbo, the King “may ban his brother from joining other families walking to church at Sandringham on Christmas Day.”
Tengbo, who has worked closely with the Duke of York for many years, was recently banned from the U.K. and lost an appeal to the Special Immigration Commission; the BBC reported that “the businessman was trying to leverage Prince Andrew's influence” and that “the alleged Chinese spy” had been working with Prince Andrew “in an He continued that he had an “unusually trusting relationship” with Prince Andrew.
In his ruling, the judge suggested that Lord York was under “considerable pressure” at the time and was “vulnerable to the misuse of that kind of influence.”
While it should be clear that Prince Andrew has not been accused of misconduct, this situation is another example of the King being forced to deal with a scandal concerning his brother. A royal source told The Daily Beast, “His Majesty's patience is running out. She has been there for Andrew for years, but everyone has their limits.”
The source added, “I don't think the King would want to walk to church with someone who was friends with a Chinese spy.”
Every year, the Royal Family walks to the church at Sandringham Manor to greet the public who gather to see the royal family on Christmas Day. After his affair with Epstein (and his disastrous interview with BBC's Newsnight), the Duke of York was excluded from walking with the family. However, when King Charles ascended to the throne in 2022, the King reintroduced his brother to the tradition.
Many royal experts now suggest that the Duke of York should remain in the Royal Lodge out of shame. According to the Daily Mail, the King does not want to “kick” his brother out of the Christmas tradition, but wants to “allow his brother himself to make the decision to step down from public life.”
However, “Andrew is done,” a source close to the King told The Daily Beast. 'You would have thought it would be hard to find a way to make things worse, but somehow he's done it.'
As for Andrew's participation this year, the Times reported that “the king is believed to have not yet made a decision about Christmas and is likely to take the revelations into account.”
