Selena Gomez embraces the suede trend with a trench coat designed by the style icon.
Selena Gomez visited SiriusXM Studios in Los Angeles on December 9 in casual attire. The star, who was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her supporting role in the Netflix movie musical “Emilia Perez,” was all smiles for her appearance on Radio Andy's “The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham.”
Gomez brought the fall suede trend into winter with a warm brown double-breasted trench coat from Alexa Chung's second collection for Madewell.Sarah Shapiro, author of Retail Diary and a Puck contributor, previously worked with Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Miu Miu, and Bottega Veneta runways, told Marie Claire's Julia Marzovilla that she sees the suede trend as an extension of pop culture's obsession with Western motifs. Of course, the classic cut of Gomez's suede overcoat makes the piece more timeless than trendy. Designed to resemble vintage outerwear, the calf-length piece features blazer-inspired peaked lapels and a tie belt to cinch in the waist.
The “Only Murderers in the Building” actor wore a suede overcoat over a white crewneck T-shirt. Her jeans were secured with a wide suede belt featuring an oval gold buckle. The perfect white T-shirt depends on who you ask, but lately I can't stop thinking about La Ligne's vintage-inspired slim-fit Molly Tee. Jennifer Lawrence paired it with a cherry red sweater and black maxi shirt shortly after announcing her second child pregnancy with gallerist husband Cook Maloney in October.
Her flippy-robed haircut, first unveiled at a special screening of “Emilia Perez” in late October, was given a sleek blowout for the occasion.
In an interview on Cagle's show this week, the Rare Beauty billionaire discussed how appearing in the film reinvigorated her lifelong passion for music.
“More than anything, I've never felt more inspired,” Gomez told the hosts.
“The work I'm doing now is everything I've worked so hard for, and I'm so proud of it, and so fulfilled.”
Perhaps her suede trench is a sign of things to come. Certainly, she is not opposed to a country album cycle.
