No Good Deed” Season 2: Everything We Know
All eight episodes of Liz Feldman's “No Good Deed” will be available on Netflix on December 12, 2024, and viewers will be transported to a mysterious house that has just been put up for sale. The twisted black comedy centers on the Morgan family (Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano), an elderly couple who suddenly put their family home near Los Angeles up for sale; three families begin vying for the house as the answer to their current problems, and their relentless pursuit brings up old wounds and secrets for the Morgans Their constant pursuit evokes old wounds and secrets for the Morgans.
By the end of the first season, the house is officially in the hands of another couple and the central mystery of what happened there is resolved. With most of the characters happily starting a new chapter in the finale, is there a thread to pull for “No Good Deed” Season 2? Here's everything we know about a possible renewal.
So far, Netflix has remained silent on a season 2 renewal for “No Good Deed.” The streaming giant's renewal strategy fluctuates from title to title, but having a significant number of views usually bodes well for the next season (the hit romance series “Nobody Wants This” scored a second season just two weeks after its premiere, while others have been released Only time will tell if “No Good Deed” will have another house for sale.
Without an official update, it is difficult to know exactly when the second season will appear on Netflix. However, using the production schedule for the first season as a reference, stars Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow will be on board for the comedy in early December 2023, with the rest of the cast announced later that month. Filming reportedly began several months before the cast announcement, meaning that if the show is renewed shortly and goes into production shortly thereafter, we will see a second season in late 2025 or early 2026.
Spoilers for the entire first season of “No Good Deed” ahead; the finale of “No Good Deed” will reveal the fate of all four families, including the family that won the home, and the Morgan family's son Jacob, seen in flashbacks throughout the series ( Wyatt Aubrey) on the night he actually died. Leslie and Sarah (Abby Jacobson and Poppy Liu) have the keys, and Dennis and Carla (O-T Fagbenle and Teyonah Parris) are building a new house across the street on a lot that belonged to JD and Margo (Luke Wilson and Linda Cardellini) before the house burned down; JD and Margo have gone their separate ways as a couple, and the Morgan family feels more familial togetherness than ever before.
Speaking of Margo, it is revealed that she is having an affair with Jacob and is the one who shot him from outside the house after he stole her jewelry. When Margo is inside the house, the house is set on fire (presumably by Lydia, played by Kudrow, who went there that evening to confront her). Six months later, Margo is alive with a large scar from a burn on the right side of her face and possibly a prison sentence: the nephew of Lydia and Paul (Kevin Alves) is a police officer and tries to arrest her at the bar.
The first season of “No Good Deed” ends without a cliffhanger, tying up all the intertwined ensemble stories. The house is sold to Leslie and Sarah, played by Abby Jacobson and Poppy Liu, and the reason for the Morgan family's move is revealed. It is because they have discovered that Margo, or Luanne (Linda Cardellini), is the one who shot and killed their son in this house, and not their daughter Emily (Chloe East), whom they had believed for so many years.
With Cardellini returning, the show may continue to follow Luann and her inevitable future intrigue. However, given the open-and-shut manner of the storyline from the first season, it would seem that if “No Good Deed” is renewed, it will be an anthology, not unheard of for a Netflix series: not unheard of for a Netflix series, It's what Netflix did with the second installment of Beef. Let the dream cast begin to come together.
When Feldman began work on No Good Deed, she wanted to make a show about the L.A. real estate market. She also intended to reunite with frequent collaborator Cardellini, who, after playing the good Judy for three seasons on “Dead to Me,” had said she wanted to play the “bad girl” in her next role. Speaking with Tudam, Feldman said, “I had already started dreaming about this Los Angeles real estate world, and I thought, 'Why isn't there a show about the buying and selling of one house and all the people surrounding that one house? I thought, 'Who is that evil woman in this world?'”
If Margo continues to be the basis of the show, we may follow her further in Season 2. This is because, let's be realistic, prison doesn't really change her. The series may focus on her latest trials and tribulations as a social climber seeking easy money-making opportunities.
However, it is also possible (perhaps more likely) that Feldman will return the keys to the Morgan mansion in full and explore another mansion for sale in L.A. Wild stories about buying and selling are part of the genesis of this series, and Greg Boichelin, played by Matt Rogers, must have other attractive clients.
Feldman may also be in for a whole other adventure. The showrunner told TV Insider, “The three most stressful things in my life are death, taxes, and moving... I dealt with death in Dead To Me, and as Abb (Jacobson) from No Good Deed keeps joking, my next show will be about accountants. It will be a crazy show.”
