Beyonce received her first Grammy nomination in the Country category for “Cowboy Carter”.
Before the 2025 Grammy nomination was announced, it was announced at 11.25 PM (Friday). On May 8, Bay Hive was waiting breathlessly to hear how the Recording Academy honored Beyonce's country turn, Cowboy Carter. Is it only seen as pop, or is it perceived in the intended genre?
Well, thankfully, Queen Bay laid down her "Card Down, Down, Down, Down, Down" and how skilled and knowledgeable she was in Americana and roots music
Beyonce received 11 Grammy nominations— most of the artists of the year—but not all of them. Especially received recognition in the categories of several countries. Cowboy Carter was nominated for Best Country Album, "16Carriages" was nominated for Best Country Solo performance, "Texas Hold'em" was nominated for Best Country Song, and "II Most Wanted" with Miley Cyrus was nominated for Best Country Album. Nominated for Lee Duo/Group Performance. In addition, "Ya Ya" has been nominated for Best Americana Performance.
The pop superstar also nodded in the Big Three categories: Album of the Year and "Texas Hold'em" records and Song of the Year.
Elsewhere, "Bodygard" was nominated for Best pop Solo Performance, and her team-up with Post Malone, "Levii's Jeans" was Best pop Duo/group performer
Beyoncé, a native of Houston, Texas, has continued her love for the country throughout her career. Those who have talked about, previously dabbled in this genre, but recognized "Daddy Lesson", which became a fan favorite in 2016's "Lemonade", was not nominated for a Grammy. In fact, the song was reportedly rejected by the Country Music Committee of the Recording Academy.
The musician also performed a song with the Chicks at the 2016 Country Music Association Awards, sparking a racist backlash.
Many fans suspected that the incident partly affected Cowboy Carter. At the release of the album, Queen Bay shared in an Instagram candid statement how the experience, which was "unwelcome" by the country's community, had conveyed to the record.
Her 2025 Grammy nomination in the country category came after Cowboy Carter was completely shut out by the next CMAs, with nominations announced on 11/20 ahead of the Awards show on 9 May.
Still, having won a Grammy, she reached many milestones as a country artist this year; she became the first black woman to reach No. 1 on both the country album and country song charts.
She also continues to make history by breaking her own records. With the upcoming 67th Grammy nomination, her career total is now a whopping 99, most of any artist to date. The singer also remains the most decorated artist in Grammy history, with 32 wins.
At the awards ceremony scheduled for 2025/2/2, we need to see if she will reach further feats and broadcast live on cbs.Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles
