Groff tries to lure jj to the dark side later in the season, but the most loyal Pogue tells his money-hungry father in the finale, "I already have a crown." You have everything to do with what you'll never have.JJ took the crown in his hand, pulled Kier away from the Groff and hugged her briefly. Before Groff brutally stabbed his son in the stomach. When JJ dies in Chiara's arms, his last words are "Take care of others." I Love You Kie
After the second half of Season 4 hit Netflix in 2024-11-7, the streamer shared a behind-the-scenes clip about JJ's death. At the monument, Panko remembered that during the past four seasons he played a fan favorite character. "When I first learned that JJ risked it all and wouldn't make it, I understood it," the actor says in the clip. When I read the character breakdown of the audition, it was "True to flaws.""And as the stakes get higher and higher, I think all his thing is for him to take risks and put his friends in front of him.
He also thanked the cast and crew of OBX and shared a message with Chudam for fans of the show. It was broadcast on 7 May. "To all the fans who have shown a lot of support and love for JJ, I just want to thank you," he wrote. "It really affected me, playing him. It was an honor to bring him to life for you guys, and it was a pleasure to play him.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, OBX creators Shannon Burke, Josh Pate and Jonas Pate Ming that they "always knew" before the series ended
"Basically thought it would be JJ from the beginning," Burke said. "For a long time we knew that someone would die. [Season 4] JJ is reckless, but has given up everything. [Those are] JJ's extremes: He'll give up something for the group, but he's also completely reckless and sometimes flies planes in the mountains. It's a dichotomy. We thought it would be JJ the whole time."
Burke added of Pankow's reaction, "We talked to Rudy about his character dying in Chiara's arms in Season 2 or 3," and we didn't really know when to play that card. It was much more abstract at the time, but he seemed interested in it and thought it was a good way to go out. And when it came to that moment, when he read it, apparently, he was surprised. But pretty soon. He pivoted quickly, just thinking about how to make it as good as possible and respect the character."
Hours after the scene of JJ's death debuted on Netflix, the OBX fandom began swirling with speculation that the long-rumored behind-the-scenes drama could have led to Pankow's departure from the series. Despite the creators' assurances that Jj's death was "always" planned, there are rumors that Panko asked him to leave the series instead.
According to Stylecaster, fans have said that Pankow and his co・star Madison Bailey, the other half of the fan-shipped Jiara (JJ and Kiara), have not been getting along for the past few years due to personal drama.
Fans also believe that Pankow's longtime girlfriend, Elaine Simek, may also have contributed to his departure. I'm guessing. Pankow and Seymeck met on the set of Outer Banks Season 1 when Seymeck was working as a crew assistant. They were published in their relationship in 2021.
Whatever the reason, Pankow suggests in an interview that he is prepared for a future beyond the outer Banks. Speaking backstage ahead of the 2024-8 starring Romeo and Juliet at the American Repertory Theater, Panko said of his time in the Netflix hit:"I am very grateful to be in this position...Working on this craft together with these characters. But I know it's not going to last forever. I can trust that it's okay no matter how busy I am, or how not busy I am.I know what it is,"
