Are “Love is Blind” Season 7's Marissa George and Ramses Prashad still dating?
“Love is Blind” Season 7 Episodes 1-11 Spoilers Ahead Netflix's groundbreaking reality show “Love is Blind” has been on the air for four years, but there have been surprisingly few conversations about politics among the show's engaged couples. (The D.C. resident cast of “Love is Blind” Season 7 brought interesting conversations about voting records and military service to the screen. The latter turned out to be one of the biggest disagreements Marissa George and Ramses Prashad faced on their journey to the altar, with many fans wondering if the two could work out their issues and make it to the wedding.
Below is a look at Marissa and Ramses in “Love is Blind” Season 7 and clues as to whether they are still together after filming.
Upon arriving at the pod, Marissa, a bubbly law student, hits it off with two men. Marissa and Bodan have a lot in common, including a military background and a love of fantasy books, but Ramses is impressed by his healthy masculinity, as Marissa has been dating very traditional military men (including hardcore Trump supporters). She is also excited that he is a Leo in Cancer. This apparently means that he is in touch with his emotions and craves a passionate relationship. Eventually she decides to move forward with Ramses, but Bohdan is very mature about it, which is quite refreshing (especially compared to the other pod love triangles in season 7).
Ramses and Marissa have their best face-to-face reveal of the season. Ramses is so excited that he almost forgets to give her the ring. Their rapturous passion continues in Hawaii, where they become the first couple to have sex, and they are on cloud nine the whole time.
Unfortunately, the mood changes when they return to D.C. and move in together. While dining together in episode 7, a conversation about wedding arrangements - they do not want the ceremony officiated by a cis hetero - shifts to their religious upbringing. Ramses was raised very religious and divorced his childhood sweetheart away from the Christian faith. Marissa, on the other hand, was raised Mormon and is relearning all the patriarchal norms she was raised with.
The story then turns to Marissa's mixed feelings about her eight years of naval service. Ramses, a Venezuelan native, is strongly opposed to U.S. imperialism and the military-industrial complex. Marissa is not cool with “half of the crap” the military does, but she doesn't want to completely deny what she has devoted so much of her life to. (She also says she has been taught to respect the military since childhood.) Over drinks with Marissa's friends, Ramses reaffirms that it would be a deal-breaker for Marissa to reenlist or enlist in the reserves. However, Marissa has no intention of reenlisting. Ramses also has no problem with Marissa wanting to share her military background with her future children and allow them to choose their own paths. Marissa's friends are concerned about whether Marissa and Ramses will be able to raise children with such big differences, but the couple seems to be working toward the same ideology.
Ramses' family does not appear in the show, but Marissa's mother Vanessa has enough personality to make up for the five “meet the family” scenes. Marissa's siblings seem to get along well with Ramses, better, she says, than many of Ramses' old boyfriends. Her mother, however, is strict in her answers about her relationship with Ramses and his “off” fashion. Vanessa at least explains how hard it was to raise a child alone and deal with poverty before asking Ramses if he has any plans for career advancement. Vanessa does not think Ramses is a “bum” but wants him to sign a prenuptial agreement before marrying Marissa. Ramses is cool with the prenuptial agreement, but Marissa is repulsed by her mother and seems relieved not to be pushed around by Vanessa. Vanessa's last words to Ramses: “If you hurt my daughter, I'll cut your balls off.”
Later, other problems rock the couple. Marissa has made it clear that she does not want to use contraception due to health complications, but Ramses does not want to have children anytime soon and has major reservations about sex with a condom. In episode 10, this resurfaces after an off-screen conversation in which Marissa tells Ramses that they can have a child sooner than the three- to five-year timeline. Since “Cabo,” their physical intimacy has decreased. This is understandable, since Marissa commutes two hours from their shared apartment to work every day, but Ramses seems to be constantly seeking that level of passion. As doubt creeps into Ramses' head, Marissa wonders if it will be a problem if she is not ready for it after marriage.
Unfortunately, Marissa and Ramses' last days before the wedding were filled with more stress than anticipation. During their last date, Marissa says that Ramses is not putting as much effort into his mother and wedding preparations. She says she doesn't want to have to carry the emotional burden of being married. She also doesn't want to get divorced and says she doesn't mind being “unhappy” for five to seven years in terms of trying to make the marriage work. Remes is concerned about this and is determined to make his second marriage his last, but not at the expense of his own happiness.
The final pre-wedding episode ends in the aftermath of a disagreement; it is unclear what the two were discussing, but Marissa says that it was not a problem they had been having all along, but that Ramses “told some people” that deepened their doubts. But Ramses notes that the unnamed new problem is “one of those things in terms of being together, living together, experiencing all of that.” It's a vague conversation, but Ramses makes it clear that marriage isn't just about love, “there are other things that have to go right.” Marissa still wants to get married and “take the risk of falling in love,” but the episode ends before we see Ramses' response.
We will have to wait until the October 23 finale and the October 30 reunion to know the official status of Marissa and Ramses. However, the final scene of episode 11 seems to be the moment before the breakup. And while the bleak mood could have been created by creative editing, neither the season 7 trailer nor the teaser at the end of episode 11 seem to show Ramses and Marissa in the wedding footage.
The cast of season 7, including Ramses and Marissa, are very good at avoiding spoilers on social media. They follow each other and there are no hints that they might have taken similar vacations or might be secretly dating. They also both post very cute behind-the-scenes photos of their shoots, so it looks like they are still close.
