Gigi Hadid's Naked manicure paired with a gold Naked dress at Paris Fashion Week
Gigi Hadid went down in a gold naked dress at Rabanne's Paris Fashion Week party, and its dazzling chain-link design had everyone talking the next day. One can certainly understand why. It was the gold chain frock that Françoise Aldi wore to the first International Diamond Fair in Paris and was described as “the most expensive dress in the world.”
The 1968 original featured long sleeves and large square links, in contrast to the slinky sleeveless one Hadid wore on Thursday to celebrate the launch of Rabanne's new “Million Gold” fragrance duo (for men and women). But the spirit of the bold look remains the same. Hadid even had a naked manicure to match her naked dress.
Hadid is not the only one showing off naked manicures all over Paris. Earlier this week, Kendall Jenner appeared in a see-through Alexander McQueen gown with nude-colored nail polish that blended in with her skin tone. Nail artist Tom Bacic calls the fall trend “mannequin nails” or “soap nails.”
Beloved by Bacik's longtime client Jennifer Lopez, mannequin nails are essentially sheer beige lacquers laid over short squared-off or slightly rounded tips for a natural yet subtly finished look. The Naked Manicure is a nod to the barely-there pink polish that nail artist Jin Sun Choi applied to models at Proenza Schooler in February, as well as to the ” It's a half-step forward from the “non-nail polish” nail polish trend.
Hadid paired her naked mani and chainmail dress with a one-of-a-kind bag that debuted at Rabanne's Spring 2025 runway show in Paris on Wednesday. The 1969 Nano bag, designed by creative director Julien Docena, is made of 18-karat gold and is expected to retail for nearly $280,000. The model and mother of two finished the look with gold hoop earrings, several gold rings, a gold chain bracelet, and pointy gold pumps.
While Hadid's one-of-a-kind purse may be hard to come by, there are plenty of nude nail polishes that can help recreate her last-minute manicure. You can't go wrong with anything Jin Soon makes, but I also like Static Nails' super-shiny Creme Brulee. Either way, I think you'll find that it feels pretty good to be naked.
