Best 70's style haircuts to copy

The 70s gave us some really great hairstyles. We tend to focus on the fashions of the decade, such as bell-bottoms and tie-dye, but there were some unique hairstyles from this era that are still relevant today. Some of them are a bit too “old-fashioned. Farrah Fawcett's signature feather blowout, in particular, is not shown here (perhaps controversially). But there are plenty of '70s looks that, with a little tweaking, can work today.

So, for those of you who love this decade's hairstyles or are looking for a vintage cut that fits your own aesthetic, here are some 70s-style haircuts to imitate.

Wonder Woman on screen won the first “Cappy Award” medal for performing her own stunts. Her lushly curled hair, especially the bangs, is a low-key version of “Farrah” and could be done more easily with a good curling iron.

Dolly This singer was known primarily for her enormous hair (real or fake, Parton loved voluminous hairstyles). This slightly less vertical style is very sweet. [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...]

Charlie's Angels cast member Shelley Hack was a well-known TV and movie presence in the '70s, especially for her long blonde, slicked-back hair. This was before her big break (but when she was still working as a model) and shows her cute curly bob, which is very “of its time.”

I could probably pull a number of photos from the vast archive of “fabulous Cher hairstyles” from the last decade. But I happen to like this long, curly version from the late 70s. Cher's hair is naturally curly, and this style takes advantage of her trademark length to show off her gorgeous contours.

In this promo photo, Stevie Nicks appears to be a character from a silent film. Her trademark long hair and almost mullet-like layers are beautifully styled.

A very young Isabelle Huppert looks very youthful in this throwback photo (circa 1978.) In keeping with the French aesthetic, this is a chic, timeless cut, with a bit of turbulence in her gentle auburn waves. Daisy Duke once perfected the “slightly disheveled but still nice” hair balance. Despite the fact that this hairdo is far more labor intensive, it gives off the best “I just brushed my hair up and left the house” vibe.

The legendary 60's model continued to flourish in the 70's, where she broke up (pun intended) the classic 60's hairdo a bit. It's evidence that beachy waves were in vogue long before Victoria's Secret. And Jean Shrimpton was an icon for decades.

Linda Ronstadt's signature hairstyle was a set of blunt bangs and long, bouncy curls. This look is more relaxed and casual, with bangs over the eyes and hair artfully disheveled. You would never know this was 50 years ago.

If you don't know the actress we call our first female action star, get to know Pam Grier and her amazing afro. This famous black-sploitation star expertly shaped her hair, short and tight or loose, and made it an integral part of her persona. [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...]
