Sex Education" Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

Tired of missing out on your favorites from "Moondale Secondary"? This coming-of-age Netflix show returns for a second season on January 17, 2020.

We were all hooked on this high school drama/comedy when it premiered on Netflix in early January of this year; Netflix estimates that over 40 million households (open in new tab) watched the show in its first four weeks. Then in February, production was greenlit for a second season, and filming began later that spring. In other words, you can see their cuteness in the first reading of the new season.

If you missed the "sex education" train, here's what you need to know: the show follows 17-year-old Otis, played by Asa Butterfield, as he uses the knowledge he learned from his mother, a sex therapist played by Gillian Anderson. He becomes a general sex counselor for his classmates, counseling them on all the fun/terrifying aspects of adolescence, as well as everything else. He covers hot topics such as abortion, sluts, coming out, and revenge porn. It is also highly regarded for its LGBTQ+ representation and diverse characters.

So grab your backpack and renew your knowledge of British slang.

The trailer reveals that Otis has left the clinic. He now wants to focus all his energy on his new relationship with his new love interest, Ola Nyman, played by Patricia Allison, despite the small matter of his mother dating Ola's father.

"It's a new term. No more clinics, no more drama. Maeve has moved on and so have I," Otis tells his best friend Eric Effoing (Nukuti Gatova). Despite Otis' insistence that the clinic is over, it seems that he and Maeve Wiley, played by Emma McKee, will have to face the truth about their feelings for each other this season.

Jackson Marchetti, Maeve's jock ex-boyfriend played by Kedar Williams-Sterling, is seen telling Otis, "Maeve broke up with me because she's in love with you."

The trailer seems to be Otis-centric, but creator Laurie Nunn told Digital Spy (open in new tab) that this season may be a bit more female-centric than the first season." It's subtle, but we're going to shift the focus lightly and spend a little more time with girls and women." It's also really, really fun to watch.

Netflix knows what people want, and people want a first look at the new season. My memory may be a little fuzzy on what happened with Otis last season: it started with Otis and Ola becoming a couple. This watered down the friendship between Otis and Maeve.

Fans of the show know that Otis is a bit of a late bloomer compared to his classmates' sexual experiences, so season 2 will almost certainly feature Otis trying to understand the physical aspects of his new relationship. Therefore, season 2 will almost certainly depict Otis trying to understand the physical aspects of his new relationship

It will be interesting to see how things play out when Otis and Ola learn of their parents' relationship. [23] [24] No reason to sweat. Even Adam Groff, played by Connor Swindells, was sent to the Navy faculty at the end of the previous season when he learned of Otis' feelings for his best friend Eric Effing, played by the wonderful Nuchi Gatova.

As for Maeve and Amy Gibbs, played by Amy Lou Wood, they got into a bit of trouble. In an interview with Teen Vogue magazine (opens in new tab), McKee talked about Maeve and Amy focusing more on their friendship in the second season. I love the interaction between Maeve and Amy. Amy Lou Woods is such a joy to be around. All you see on screen are scenes of us having fun. If you focus on the friendship between women, it's going to be great."

McKee also spoke about what she hopes for Maeve in the second season. She said, "I want to see Maeve be independent and try to figure things out on her own and be able to ask for help."

It looks like the three new faces will definitely shake things up a bit when they hit the screen.

Chinenye Ezeudu plays Viv, a super-smart and talented student, who is a bit of a shock to the system, but is also a great role model for the rest of the film. (And Sami Autarbari plays Rahim, a French transfer student of note in Moodale Secondary.

Finally, Isaac joins the series as a new boy, a student played by George Robinson, who moves into Maeve's caravan park. (He smells like a potential love interest now that Otis is occupied, but we'll have to wait and see.)

What will happen to the lovable students who challenge the wonder of high school life this season? Who will be dating? Will Adam and Eric be reunited? Until we get those answers in the new season, we'll be rewatching the first season in all its hilarious, heartfelt glory.
