The royal family has been in complete chaos over the past 24 hours, but today is also Kate Middleton's birthday, and apparently she and Prince William are not thrilled that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry dropped last-minute bombshell news. In case you missed it (doubtful!) ), the royal couple announced (opens in new tab) that they are officially stepping down as "senior" members of the royal family, and apparently didn't tell anyone (opens in new tab) it first. Oops!

"Harry and Meghan rubbed salt in the wound by making the big announcement the day before Kate's birthday," a source told Us Weekly (opens in new tab). Things are not going well with William."

A source previously told the magazine (opens in new tab) that "William has been blasted by Harry and Meghan's decision and statement," adding, "There is still a rift between the two brothers, as William was the first person Harry would discuss such big news with when they were younger. Sad. William is incredibly hurt, but at the same time he is thinking about his family and trying to move on with his life."

FYI, William and Kate celebrated Kate's birthday (opens in new tab) this morning with a public Instagram post." Thank you all for all the lovely messages on the Duchess of Cambridge's birthday!" with the simple caption.

Meghan and Harry added to the post, "Happy birthday to the Duchess of Cambridge! ❤️"
