Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (open in new tab) announced more than a week ago that they would step down from their royal executive roles, but the details are still being negotiated.

According to a new report in the Daily Mail (opens in new tab), the queen's closest aides are still working on negotiations, which have not gone well.

The Mail reports that sources close to the royal family say that negotiations (opens in new tab) are at a "stalemate" and that despite "great pressure" to reach an agreement by the end of this week, insiders say "it has not been possible."

Nevertheless, Buckingham Palace is expected to issue an update on Harry and Meghan's exit (opens in new tab) "soon" in a statement, according to the Daily Mail. The Queen is said to be pressuring her courtiers to come up with a solution to the issue quickly, "within days, not weeks".

The future of the Sussex couple's titles, finances (open in new tab), and security arrangements are among the issues still being worked out.

Harry is still in the UK after a summit meeting with the Queen, Prince Charles, and Prince William (open in new tab) at Sandringham (open in new tab) on Monday. Meanwhile, Meghan is still in Canada with her son Archie Harrison.
