Sarah Ferguson Endorses Ex-Husband Prince Andrew Despite Recent Scandals: 'I Won't Let Him Down'

Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew have been living together in an unconventional lifestyle at the Royal Lodge since their divorce in 1996, despite the fact that their marriage is on the rocks. Now, in a new interview with The Sunday Times, Ferguson says she will stay by her ex-husband's side no matter what.

In a joint interview she gave with her sister Jane before Prince Andrew's recent “Chinese spy” scandal, the Duchess of York said she had no regrets about marrying the royal family.

“I was completely, utterly in love with Andrew, 100 percent, and I would do it all over again,” she told The Sunday Times. 'He's the best, he's got a good heart, he's a great guy.'

Although the Duke of York was forced to step down from his royal duties following his affair with Geoffrey Epstein and the resulting trial, Ferguson said she would stand by her ex. 'I won't let him down,' she said. He supports me as much as I support him. He's been there for me every step of the way, not just through marriage and divorce.”

Fergie, who told Bella magazine earlier this year that she and Andrew have no plans to remarry, continued that the amicable exes “agree on the three C's--communication, compromise, and compassion.”

The Duchess called their wedding “the best day of my life.” But she admitted that being part of the royal family had its ups and downs: “I gave up my anonymity that day. Because love conquers all. It's still with us today."

She added, ”It's a great day to be a part of the family.

The Duchess of York experienced many cruel headlines in the 1990s because of her weight. Only the fact that I was able to eat my emotions saved my life.”

But one member of the royal family always had her back. Queen Elizabeth, who was famously close to her son, Prince Andrew, remained close to Ferguson after their divorce, and the duchess said, “The queen never lost me.” In fact, Ferguson recounts the late Queen Elizabeth's last words to her.

“The best advice the Queen gave me was the last thing she said to me. It makes me cry,” Fergie told the outlet.
