Prince Andrew reportedly hopes to attend Prince Charles' pre-Christmas Buckingham Palace lunch despite recent scandal
Unfortunately, 2024 was a somewhat tumultuous year for Prince Andreu. But that didn't necessarily stop him from barging into a Christmas party at Buckingham Palace.
After reports that one of Prince Andrew's business associates was allegedly a “Chinese spy,” it became clear that the Duke of York would not be spending Christmas with the royals at Sandringham. Further reports suggest that Prince Charles has been scandalized yet again by the public and that his relationship with his brother is “over.”
The Duke of York is also expected to spend Christmas at Sandringham. However, the Duke reportedly wants to attend King Charles' pre-Christmas luncheon at Buckingham Palace.
The annual event has been held at Windsor Castle in recent years after the COVID-19 pandemic, but will return to Buckingham Palace in 2024.According to the Express, “Prince Andrew, in missing the royal family celebration at Sandringham despite his choice” to attend his brother's pre-Christmas event. The special luncheon will reportedly draw as many as 70 guests, including some lesser-known members of the royal family.
Prince Andrew and his wife Sarah Ferguson will spend Christmas at their home, the Royal Lodge in Windsor. Meanwhile, daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will reportedly celebrate the holiday season with their respective in-laws.
Despite Prince Andrew's recent scandal, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson showed her support in an interview with The Sunday Times. 'I loved Andrew completely,' she said. 'One hundred percent, I would do it all over again. He is the best, a kind man with a great heart,” she continued.
Ferguson promised future support, telling the outlet, “I will not let him down. He supports me as much as I support him. He's supported me through everything, not just my marriage and my divorce."
He has also been there for me through every moment of my life.
Following allegations that one of Prince Andrew's business advisors was a Chinese “spy,” the royal family issued an official statement. The statement explains, “The Duke of York, following HMG's advice, has ceased all contact with that person after concerns were raised.” The Duke has met with the person through official channels and has not discussed any sensitive matters.” The Duke is unable to comment further on matters relating to national security.”
