Zoë Kravitz praises ex-lover Channing Tatum's “charisma” weeks after breakup

Zoë Kravitz is still very much in love with her recently split ex-boyfriend Channing Tatum.

In a new conversation with “Batman” director Matt Reeves for Variety's Directors on Directors, the actress discussed why she cast Tatum in her directorial debut, Blink Twice. (The two met while working together on the film and ultimately fell in love.)

“Channing was the first person I thought of for Slater King [the film's villainous protagonist]. [especially Naomi (Ackie, who plays Frida) on that plane because she is immediately unbelievable as an insidious person.” [I wanted to weaponize his charisma. [I wanted to weaponize his charisma. Indeed, this is not “She's the Man.”

Back in 2021, Kravitz revealed to Deadline why Tatum was his first choice for the film.

“Chan was my first choice and he's who I had in mind when I wrote this character. From 'Magic Mike' and his live shows, I knew he was a true feminist and I wanted to collaborate with someone who was clearly interested in exploring this subject matter.”

Interestingly, Tatum and Kravitz's entire romance ended up being intertwined with the “Blink Twice” collaboration.

First, they met on set, eventually began dating, and became engaged in October 2023. They then sweet-talked each other in connection with “Brink Twice” and praised each other's work and skills, but one source claims that their relationship “fizzled out quickly” after work on the film ended.

Still, although their romance ultimately didn't work out, they seem poised to remain colleagues: just hours before their breakup made headlines, Tatum announced that the two would be co-starring in the upcoming film “Alpha Gang.” We wish them many years of happiness.
