Chad Michael Murray Says Working with Lindsay Lohan in “Freaky Friday” Was Like a High School Reunion
Chad Michael Murray is as nostalgic as we are about “Freaky Friday” and his reunion with Lindsay Lohan.
While attending Christmas Con 2024 in Edison, NJ on December 15, actor Chad Michael Murray was asked about the upcoming sequel “Freaky Friday” and reuniting with co-stars Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis after several years He was asked what he thought of the film when he saw it.
In short: “It was great. I just missed them,” Murray explained (via PEOPLE), adding, ”It felt like a high school reunion.” [The actor who played love interest Jake returns for the sequel, along with Mark Harmon, Stephen Tobolowsky, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Sunn, and Rosalind Chao. New cast members include Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitrey Ramakrishnan, and Sofia Hammons.
“It felt like no time had passed, but in the meantime we had our whole lives,” he said, adding that it had been “23 years since we shot the first film,” for context.
He also admitted that he was a bit confused because the sequel deals with swapping bodies between multiple family members -- in this case, Curtis and Rohan swap bodies with a pair of teenage girls.
“There was a moment where I was sitting there going, 'Okay, who's who? I did a lot of prep work and still made mistakes, but it was a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun.”
The film is slated for release on August 8, 2025.
