Elisabeth, called Sisi by her family, is a very stubborn, bold woman who grew up in the countryside, determined to marry for love and freedom. At the beginning of the Empress, the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph 1st has already addressed the unfortunate subject and the war on the horizon. Most recently, he starred as Ember Bell in Prime video's Maxton Hall: The World Between Us.
Princess Marie Charlotte of Belgium is a new addition to Empress Season 2, where she falls in love with Maximilian after a chance encounter. She has been played by Josephine Tiesen, a German newcomer in the 2nd TV role in the Max miniseries besides both sides of the Abyss.
