Drew Barrymore goes makeup-free to welcome Pamela Anderson to the show.
Drew Barrymore and Valerie Bertinelli join Pamela Anderson on her no-makeup journey in the preview for the October 22 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show. [In this episode, we explore what it means to remove makeup in public.
“You are a pioneer of what we are certainly doing here today,” Barrymore told Anderson.
The Baywatch actress then shared how her makeup-free odyssey turned out. 'It was Paris Fashion Week and I thought, I'm just going to go to a fashion show, I don't need to compete with anybody. Why am I wasting three hours in the makeup chair when I'm wearing a beautiful Vivienne Westwood outfit? Anderson said.
“I didn't think anyone would notice. But people were coming up to me and talking to me. I thought, 'This is a great message.'
Anderson added that quitting makeup helped her remember who she really was.
“I realized I'd been playing characters my whole life,” she said. I was painfully shy as a kid, and being in Playboy, for example, was a huge leap for me. But I didn't want to be shy anymore."

In addition to no longer wearing makeup, Anderson has purchased and renovated her grandmother's property in Canada and is spending time in nature to reconnect with herself.
“I just started taking it all back and then I started peeking outside without makeup. As me,” she told Barrymore and Bertinelli. 'And I don't want people to think I'm some cartoon character I created to protect myself. Looking back, I think that's why I did it."

She concluded, “It was very empowering. I feel so empowered, so free, so excited about life again.”
To honor Anderson's courage in trying to be herself, at the end of the preview Barrymore tore off her hair extensions and threw them on the ground, revealing that her hair was thinning due to menopause. Two other women enthusiastically cheered the talk show host after her symbolic gesture.
