James Middleton “burst into tears” when Princess Kate pointed out his depression.

Princess Kate's brother, James Middleton, has published his first book, in which he talks about everything from his interactions with Queen Elizabeth to his dog. In Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, James also speaks candidly about his experience with depression and how his sisters Kate and Pippa Middleton helped him.

On the September 30 episode of The Life of Bryony Gordon's podcast, James revealed how his siblings have affected his mental health.

“Early in my depression, before I got help, I kept my brothers away,” James explained (via the Express).

“And I think sometimes the closer you are to someone, the harder it is to help them.”

He continued. 'Once I started the process, I understood everything a little bit better.' My therapist suggested involving my family, but at that point I wasn't ready to discuss it with my parents.

James then explained that when he finally told Kate and Pippa about his depression, he “burst into tears” and revealed that he felt “a lot of love” from them. [because] they weren't being critical, they were really trying to help. And they could have put it off or delayed it, and they both had their own busy lives.

The important conversation between the three siblings was life-changing for James for many reasons.

“I don't really remember what we talked about, but I do remember the feelings and the way I felt at that moment and the questions they were asking to understand,” he said on the podcast.

“It was great to hear it and not just be told,” James said of his sisters' reaction.

“And it was a journey of understanding and learning for me as well.”
