How to Help People Affected by Hurricane Helene
Hurricane Helen devastated the Southeast, killing more than 100 people and obliterating entire communities. Officials say the death toll could be even higher, and many people are still missing; more than 1.5 million people are still without power, and hundreds of roads are closed, making it nearly impossible to get essential supplies to them. In some areas, supplies are so hard to reach that government officials and aid organizations are using air, trucks, and even mules to bring them in.
If you are wondering what you can do to help, the best thing to do is to donate money to disaster relief organizations; according to FEMA, donating money is better than donating clothing or other items because the organizations on the ground know what is needed most and can direct funds to where they are needed The following is a list of some of the ways in which FEMA supports national and local causes. The following are trusted aid organizations that support national and local activities.
