In a recent interview with Us Weekly magazine, Middleton, who is busy promoting his new book, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, spoke candidly about the pressures his sister faces as Princess of Wales and how surprised he is by her grace under pressure. “Catherine is very public, and I am in awe of so much of what she does,” Middleton told the magazine for its latest issue.
“What I am most proud of is that she is still the same person I grew up with.”
That Princess Kate can stay grounded amid so many social pressures is commendable, especially after her publicized cancer diagnosis and treatment. According to Middleton, her sisters Kate Middleton and Pippa Middleton Matthews were a constant source of guidance and support during their shared childhood.
“Growing up surrounded by three strong and capable women was like having three mothers, and I turned to Catherine and Pippa for advice,” the proud older brother wrote in his memoir Meet Ella. Catherine and Pippa never looked down on me as a little brother who didn't deserve them. On the contrary, they included me in their games and added me to their friendship.
On a recent episode of Bryony Gordon's podcast The Life of Bryony, James revealed how his siblings affected his mental health.
“Early in my depression, before I got help, I kept my siblings away. And I think sometimes the closer you are to someone, the harder it is to help them”

“My therapist suggested involving my family, but at that point I wasn't ready to discuss it with my parents.
Middleton then recounted his reaction after his sister, Princess Kate, confronted him about his debilitating depression.
“That was a very powerful step in my recovery. Because they weren't critical, they were really trying to help.
In his book, Middleton details how Prince William and Princess Kate's past mental health advocacy helped him better understand what he was going through.
“I am grateful to Princess Catherine and Princess William for their Being active in the mental health field has provided me with invaluable knowledge and understanding,” Middleton wrote.
“My parents rely on them and Pippa to break the impenetrable barrier of my silence.”
