Kim Kardashian Visits Menendez Brothers in Prison After “Monsters” Premiere

Kim Kardashian reportedly visited Erik Menendez and Lyle Menendez at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility on Saturday, September 21, according to Variety magazine. The reality star's visit came after the release of Netflix's “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.”

According to the media, Kim was accompanied by her sister Khloe Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner. Actor Cooper Koch, who plays Eric in Monsters, also joined the visit, along with producer Scott Budnick, to discuss prison reform.

Kim's visit reportedly included a discussion of the Greenspace initiative, “a reform strategy led by both Lyle and Eric Menendez that aims to improve prison yards to help rehabilitate inmates,” according to Deadline.

The second season of Monsters, co-produced by prolific television producer Ryan Murphy, was released by Netflix on September 19. While the first season dealt with the crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer, the second season deals with the investigation of the murders of Jose Menendez and Kitty Menendez and the arrest of their sons, Erik and Lyle.

Kim's visit to the prison housing the Menendez brothers comes after news of her upcoming collaboration with Murphy. After working with Emma Roberts on American Horror Story: Delicate with Emma Roberts, Kim is working with Murphy on All's Fair, a new legal drama for Hulu. It is unclear whether her visit to the correctional facility had anything to do with her work with Murphy.

The Menendez brothers were convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder after their parents' deaths in 1989.

Following the release of Monsters, Eric issued a statement on September 20 condemning the series and its negative portrayal of his brothers.

“Beyond the lies and devastating characterizations of Lyle, I believed I had created a caricature of Lyle that was rooted in the horrific and blatant likes rampant in the show,” he said in a statement shared on X by his wife Tammy Menendez. [Knowing that Netflix's dishonest portrayal of the tragedy surrounding our crime has taken the painful truth a few steps back in time to a time when prosecutors built their story on a belief system that men are not sexually abused and that men experience the trauma of rape differently than women It is sad to me,” he continued.

Eric further explained that “those terrible lies have been shattered and exposed by countless brave victims over the past 20 years who broke through their personal shame and spoke out bravely.”
