Princess Diana was not afraid to go “where the pain was.”

Prince Harry is currently in New York City to pay tribute to the unforgettable charitable work done by his late mother, Princess Diana, during her lifetime.

On September 23, the Duke of Sussex spoke at “The Global Mental Health Crisis Among Young People” as part of the 14th Concordia Global Summit. Harry, along with Dr. Tessie Ojo, CBE, CEO of the Diana Prize, spoke about the lasting impact of the dedication of former Princess Diana of Great Britain

. It's a hassle. It's easy to say, 'I'm not going to get involved. ' It was the same with Princess Diana. She went where the pain was. And usually where there is pain is not always comfortable. It's not easy.”

Dr. Oshiro noted Prince Harry and Prince William's ongoing support of charitable causes and their willingness to follow in their late mother's footsteps.

“And that's what you see,” she explained. You see the same values, the same principle of “going where the pain is, no matter how uncomfortable.”

Two recipients of the Diana Legacy Award were also honored at the event: Kiara Liyanti Hutapea Chan of Indonesia and Christina Williams of Jamaica.

In an interview with People, Williams said of Prince Harry, “My impression was that he was a high-level role model, someone who really cared about young people - our voices and our actions.”

She continued. 'They say you don't want to meet your heroes, but I met someone I respected.' And I am going to leave this experience with that admiration, or even more admiration, maintained, to know that he truly cares about the cause he represents.

During his visit to New York, Harry also spoke about the importance of carrying on Princess Diana's legacy in his own work. While speaking at a special reception for the HALO Trust as part of the UN General Assembly High Level Week and Climate Week, Harry said, “As you know, the work of the HALO Trust in Angola meant a lot to my mother. Carrying on my mother's legacy is a responsibility that I take incredibly seriously.”
