Kate Middleton has been absent from official duties this year as she recovers from cancer, but on September 24, there was a welcome ray of hope on the royal calendar. Kate Middleton held a planning meeting for her annual Royal Carols: Together at Christmas concert at Windsor Castle.
“The Princess of Wales, co-patron of the Prince and Princess of Wales Royal Foundation, held a meeting this morning at Windsor Castle. And while it may not have revealed much, multiple outlets confirmed that Tuesday's meeting was about holiday season events.
Princess Kate held her first Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey in 2021 (televised every Christmas Eve in the UK), and Prince William joined in the festivities. She also played the piano in a moving tribute to those who died in the pandemic, overwhelming her fans.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte enjoyed the festivities with their parents in 2022, while Prince Louis made his carol concert debut last year.
The then 5-year-old prince was seen trying to blow out his sister Charlotte's candle during the service, proving that children are children in church, even if they are members of the royal family.
At this year's service, a Welsh family left a letter to Santa (known as Father Christmas in England) outside the abbey.
The annual concert, supported by the Royal Foundation, honors those who have given back in the U.K. The first was dedicated to thanking those who dedicated their lives to helping others during the pandemic; in 2022, it will be dedicated to Queen Elizabeth II, who died just three months before this event. A carol service was dedicated to her, and last year Kate honored those who work in the early childhood sector.
Fans can also look forward to classic Kate-style moments at this holiday event. While the first two “Together at Christmas” events featured red, last year she appeared in chic winter white separates. Perhaps we will see green in 2024?
A date for the event has not yet been announced, but watch this space for more on Kate's favorite Christmas tradition.
