5 Fall Hair Trends French Girls Wore at Paris Fashion Week

Spring/Summer 2025 Paris Fashion Week has been a blast on the beauty front. My 2007 dream headband made an appearance at Dior, angular 45-degree bangs were reimagined at Mugler and at Cardi B, and a Princess Leia bun made of confetti graced Coco Rocha's ears at Schuting Cu. This season is a playground for bold hairstyles.

But look at the people attending the show and you will find a completely opposite aesthetic. Fusing the effortless French girl aesthetic with statement accessories and cuts, fall hair trends are taking the street style scene by storm. The consensus is that it's time for a hair swap that requires less effort and pays off big.

Supersized scrunchies, a popular trend at Copenhagen Fashion Week, adorn disheveled buns. Metallic clips are popped into air-dried textures. Pigtail braids have reemerged as a hairstyle that can be assembled in just five minutes, and blunt bangs and bobs are widely accepted, highlighted by design.

Fall hair trends are taking shape. For proof, check out our favorite street styles from Paris Fashion Week.

The spiky updo may have peaked in popularity in the 90s, but it certainly made a major comeback at Paris Fashion Week. Last year's slicked-back bun with a ballerina twist was given a punk-rock twist this year. To add texture and dimension, small sections of hairspray were pulled out of the tightly curled bun.

Whether you have time to stock up from Pico, the Scandinavian cloakroom capital, find metallic jewelry in Lerrett NY, or a crocheted headpiece from a free-people's shop that suits you better, standout hair accessories are immensely popular. “I need a headband or ribbon. You need a headband or ribbon. Tie your hair up or let it down. Or grab a clip and embrace the trend,” celebrity hairstylist Julius Michael told Marie Claire.

Kaia Gerber wore braids. The Library Science founder ran errands last month in a nostalgic style with her hair tied back. What was unexpected was the combination of workout hair and high fashion. Unfortunately, it works really well.

The Bob Essence continues. While undone, disheveled hair was prominent on the Paris runways (Christian Dior, Christopher Esber, Uma Wang), fierce chops are being embraced in street style. Whether it's a blunt baby bang or a chin-length bob (or sometimes both), sleek and straight is the motto for fall 2024. 'You're going to see a lot of bobs in really short styles. It's really cute and really French,” says celebrity hairstylist Laura Porco.

Love it or hate it, the oft-controversial side part is back in the beauty world. Fashion's it-girls are styling their hair in deep and sometimes zigzag hairstyles. Side-parts have also permeated all hair types and textures over the past few days. Celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak notes, “The side part is making a comeback. I personally have never liked this hairstyle.”
