Prince Harry makes secret visit to tattoo parlor during trip to New York City

While visiting New York, Prince Harry made a surprise visit to a local tattoo parlor, sparking rumors that the Duke of Sussex is getting a new tattoo.

During the royal's recent visit to the Big Apple to attend and speak at the Clinton Global Initiative on Wednesday, September 25, People reports that Prince Harry was spotted leaving popular tattoo store East Side Ink. The magazine confirmed that the Duke of Sussex spent about an hour in that store.

A video posted by the Duke of Sussex on X (formerly known as Twitter) of him leaving the store went viral on social media, sparking online rumors that the royal must have decided to get a new tattoo during his high-profile visit. Sources have not confirmed whether Prince Harry left the store with the new tattoo.

The tattoo store is known for serving Hollywood A-listers and other high-profile clients, including Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Susan Sarandon, Ruby Rose, and Bruce Willis, and People reportedly added fuel to speculation that Prince Harry has a new tattoo.

As People reports, it is incredibly rare (and arguably, slightly taboo) for a member of the royal family to get a tattoo. Not unheard of, however: Princess Eugenie “has a tattoo of a small black circle behind her left ear,” the magazine reports.

Dame Amelia Windsor also has not one but several tattoos, including a bear cub, a tiger, and a trio of petals.

Of course, Prince Harry's visit to the “city that never sleeps” made headlines not only for his super-secret tattoo store visit. On stage, the Duke of Sussex spoke candidly and passionately about the rise of social media and the undeniable impact it is having on people's mental health.

“These platforms are designed to create addiction,” the prince said of social media, adding that children are “force-fed content that no child should ever be exposed to.”

“Why are these insanely powerful social media company leaders still refuse to change?” Why are we holding them to the lowest ethical standards?”

he noted.

He noted that “under other circumstances, companies would put all their resources into fixing bugs,” referring to the ongoing mental health issues caused by social media use.
