Prince Harry and Meghan Markle call for votes in the upcoming presidential election.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are urging Americans to vote in the upcoming presidential election.

On September 17, known as National Voter Registration Day, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a statement on the Archiwell Foundation website emphasizing the importance of voting and encouraging people to register to vote.

“In honor of National Voter Registration Day, the Archie Well Foundation team gathered for a meaningful volunteer effort to support and empower our community...Using Vote Forward's high-impact letter-writing tool, our team encouraged unregistered voters to take the personalized letters encouraging them to take the important step of registering. [Voting is not just a right, it is a fundamental way to influence the fate of your community. At the Archerwell Foundation, we recognize that civic engagement is at the heart of a more just and equitable world, regardless of party affiliation.” By participating in these efforts, we seek to amplify the message that all voices matter.”

According to the Pew Research Center, 66%, or two-thirds of voting Americans, voted in the 2020 presidential election.

In the 2022 midterm elections, 46% of eligible voters turned out to vote.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle encouraged their fans and followers to get involved in encouraging people to register to vote by volunteering their time and “writing to potential voters.”

“Please join us in this important effort. To volunteer your time and write letters to potential voters, sign up on the Vote Forward website,” they wrote in a statement. For those who want to take immediate action, “you can visit Vote.gov and register to vote today.

“Together, let's empower all voters to be informed and involved in shaping America's future,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex added.

Despite urging people to vote, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not officially endorsed either Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris or Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump; according to The Telegraph, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “independent “ and are expected to remain so, but Markle has previously expressed excitement about Harris' return in 2020.

“I'm very excited to see that kind of representation,” Markle said of Harris in a video interview with Gloria Steinem. For me, growing up biracial, I need to see someone who looks like me in some way, whether it's a doll or someone in an office."
