Estranged couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were photographed in public for the first time since the Puerto Rican singer filed for divorce. [Affleck and Lopez were spotted in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 14, enjoying a family outing with their children.

Affleck shares 15-year-old Finn and 12-year-old Samuel with his ex, Jennifer Garner, and Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Emme and Max with her ex, Marc Anthony.

According to the Daily Mail, the two had “intense conversations.”

At one point, Affleck “leaned in closely to speak” to Lopez while “gesturing with his arm,” the magazine reported, adding that “as they sat in the car, Jennifer seemed to be wiping away tears.”

The outing marked the first time the two have reunited (at least publicly) since Lopez filed for divorce on August 20. According to reports, Lopez filed for divorce without an attorney and requested that “Affleck” be legally removed from her last name.

On the occasion, Lopez wore a casual but chic long-sleeved crop top with matching black jeans. Affleck was also casual, wearing simple blue jeans and a blue button-up shirt.

The outing was also the first time Affleck and Lopez spent time with each other's children. According to one source who previously spoke to People in response to the divorce filing, Affleck had “not been in contact” with the Lopez twins since the divorce.

“The fact that he hasn't seen her children in a long time is like him leaving, but she is especially close to his children,” the source told the magazine at the time.

After months of rumors surrounding the couple's marriage, a divorce was finalized. Since Lopez filed for divorce, additional reports have surfaced, citing various sources and pointing to a number of reasons why the couple's marriage was apparently over.

According to one source, Lopez assumed that Affleck was a “changed man” but found that the same problems that plagued their relationship in the early 1980s remained.

“He sold her on the idea that he was a changed man, but that was very short-lived,” another source told Page Six, adding that Affleck was said to have changed during their honeymoon in Lake Como, Italy, in 2022.

“He was unhappy with the paparazzi following them,” the source continued. She is an international superstar and he acted as if it was a surprise that they were being followed around.”

Other reports claimed that Lopez filed for divorce because she was tired of being “humiliated” by Affleck, while others said that Affleck “had a darkness about him” that ultimately contributed to the breakdown of their relationship.
