Jennifer Lawrence Revives Controversial Dress-over-Pants Trend

Actress Jennifer Lawrence has revived the dress-and-pants layering look popular in the early 1980s.

Recently, the Don't Look Up star was spotted wearing a sheer purple sleeveless knee-high dress over navy La Ligne colby pants, with Manolo Blahnik Sousa flat leather sandals, another late 90s, early Oceania favorite, a silk Sophia bucket hat from The Row, was seamlessly paired.

Lawrence accessorized with Luv Lou's Poppy sunglasses and completed the throwback look with a ridiculously trendy Stanley Quencher stainless steel tumbler.

Clearly not one to shy away from a little controversy, the actress, who is somewhat known for her “lack of filter,” as Lawrence noted in a previous interview with Vogue, says that being prepared quickly is all she needs to help her feel elegant.

True to her philosophy, Lawrence is showing off her latest look inspired by Early Afts.

“Time is so precious, especially after you have kids,” the actress said in the same interview with The Kit. She added, “People always say the same thing after you have a child: ‘I don't want it to go by too fast.’ I hate to hear it because I don't want it to pass too quickly, but I've actually come to really appreciate every moment [with him]. Every day I slow down and appreciate where he is right now.“

To highlight this bold fashion statement, Lawrence wore a white button-up shirt and coordinating pants and shined $850 flats. And in case people weren't intrigued enough by Lawrence's Y2K fashion trend, she also wore old school parachute pants.
