Adele believes in the return of the dramatic gold '80s jewelry trend

If anyone knows WAG fashion inside and out, it's Adele. The singer, who is currently dating NBA sports agent Rich Paul, is often seen glamorously dressed courtside, but her latest sighting at the UEFA Championships in Dortmund, Germany, endorsed the revived 80s jewelry trend in game day form ...

On Wednesday, July 10, Adele was photographed at a German soccer stadium as England battled the Netherlands to victory in the semifinals of the tournament. In the crowd cheering for Spurs, she was seen wearing a plain white T-shirt under a slightly oversized black blazer.

She could not be seen from the waist up as fans crowded around her. But what stood out about Adele's Eurofit outfit that day were the accessories she chose. A set from Greek brand Cross cost $590 and featured a design inspired by hand-carved knots.

Adele is nothing new to dressing herself up for sporting events, as evidenced by her experience sitting on the sidelines at a Los Angeles basketball game. This time, however, the musician incorporated her Tottenham girl roots into her "football" fashion. For the occasion, she wore a neutral matte lip and bold winged eyeliner, while her long nails were polished with a heightened French manicure, the biggest nail trend of the summer.

The "Easy on Me" singer may have looked Victoria Beckham-esque on the outside, but a "Shut up!" !" and a video of her yelling it went viral, proving that she was a rabid Spurs fan.

Adele's statement earring moment is right in the middle of a trend: 80s-inspired oversized gold jewelry, especially earrings, has recently become all the rage among A-listers.

Bella Hadid is a case in point: during the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in May, the supermodel was photographed leaving her hotel in a stunning white T-shirt dress by Jacquemus. She wore the backless gown with matching white sandals, black sunglasses, a gold wrap cuff bracelet, and square chunky earrings.

Fashion has a habit of reviving the old and putting it back on today's style radar. While most of today's jewelry trends (even pierced earrings and bellybuttons) are riding the wave of minimalism, there is a growing demand for the bold and excessive. The resurgence of vintage-inspired trends is linked to the rise of throwback aesthetics such as "old money" and "mob wives." As seen with stars like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, the trend is popular with celebrities because it requires little styling effort. The bigger the earring, the bolder the statement.
