Jennifer Lopez knows how to dress for a holiday in the Hamptons.

The pop star just finished a trip to Los Angeles, where she dressed in business casual Dior and Birkin bags, and Europe, where she vacationed in a fresh matching set. Now she's spending the Fourth of July in the Hamptons with close friends and her kids.

Lopez took to her Instagram on Thursday, July 4 to document the peaceful and intimate getaway with a carousel of images, while also taking a step away from her recent style formula. Her countryside chic outfit layered some of the season's trendiest silhouettes (of course), but she also took the opportunity to embrace the timeless, yet controversial sandals known as flip flops.

On July 4, Lopez was photographed wearing a blue and white short-sleeved floral blouse by Ralph Lauren. Its top had a ruffled Peter Pan collar and was worn unbuttoned to give the appearance of a deep neckline. (Presumably because Lopez wore it.) It is already sold out, but a similar shirt befitting Nancy Meyers' heroine is still in stock.

Lopez wore the shirt with a pair of high-waisted khaki wide-leg pants, also by Ralph Lauren. She then added a tall straw hat, a summer wardrobe essential, and her customary large silver Jennifer Fisher hoop earrings.

Lopez was also spotted shopping for plants in a flower garden, holding in her hand a $6,400 Dior raffia bag that is currently out of stock. The bag is the same one she has worn several times this season alone, including on a recent trip to Italy and while running errands in New York City, where she styled it with a custom "JLO BE MY MAMA" crop top. She completed the look with a pair of dark brown leather Ralph Lauren flip flops (retail $195). (Only one size is currently in stock.)

While the Atlas star celebrated the holiday on the East Coast, husband Ben Affleck reportedly spent time in Santa Monica. He had breakfast with his two oldest children, Violet and Finn, whom he is co-parenting with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

Though classic and comfortable, summer is a constant source of discourse surrounding the silhouette of open-toe shoes, especially flip-flops, like Lopez's in New York City. But whatever the negativity of some, the easy-to-wear shoe is trending among the A-list this year. A prime street-style example is Emily Ratakowski, who wore chunky platform flip-flops in Manhattan in June. In Lopez's case, her choice of shoes is justified because she is away from the cluttered sidewalks and strictly "out of the city."
