An “unusual” hobby enjoyed by Queen Camilla until tragedy struck in 2024.
Much has been written about the hobbies enjoyed by members of the Royal Family. For example, Tom Parker Bowles, son of Queen Camilla, said that his mo...
Read MoreThe week of 6/18 will go down in history as a royal fashion feast. First, there was a meaningful color look of Princess Kate, in a reused white coronation dress by Jenny Packham that matched her daughter, Charlotte Then on the circuit of the International Fashion Awards there was Princess Eugenie, who wore a timeless little black dress. Last but not least, Princess Eugenie and Princess Zara Tindall appeared at Royal Ascot on Tuesday 6/18, 2024, in a delicately coordinated outfit with a stately dress code.
For beginners: Royal Ascot is the fifth day of horse racing every year hosted by the reigning Monarch of England (in this case King Charles III and Queen Camilla) at Ascot Racecourse just outside London. About 300,000 spectators come to see the race and the fashion associated with it. Between the daily royal procession to the race and the huge shingles of London society in attendance, there are usually many excellent dresses and even more iconic hats.
Princess Eugenie was the first witness to excite fashion people into this year's lineup. She arrived in a pastel green dress by Diane von Furstenberg, featuring a twisted neckline and a flowing skirt. Enhancing the fresh floral energy of her light dress, she added a pair of Aquazzura pumps decorated with bows - one of her favorite shoe designers— and two total pieces of headgear: sloping, flat seductive and a huge peony hair clip.
Princess Eugenie was not the only royal (or rather, adjacent to the royal family) to win Ascot's first fashion race. Equestrian, Olympic and cousin of Princess Zara Tindall arranged a royal Ascot costume that would turn the sun's rays into a bright midi dress. At the same time, it accidentally played the costume of Princess Eugenie.
Tindall grounded her look in a yellow dress with a semi-sheer bodice and exaggerated puff sleeves. She color-coordinates from tip to toe and features her own sloping sun hat and bare pointed toe pumps. (The exact credit of her appearance was not yet published at the time of the press.Between pastel shades, a similar-shaped hat, and an affinity for nonsense but elegant shoes, the same-style wavelength of the day that the royal cousin
Royal Ascot runs until 6/22, raising hopes for more royal-style moments that turn the event into a family affair. Instead of attending the opening of the race, Princess Beatrice spent a less maintenance travel day on her way to the Cannes Lions, a marketing summit, where she discussed artificial intelligence on a panel. If she decides to coordinate with her sister, Princess Eugenie, she is only a few hours from London.
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are skilled at presenting a unified front while shining their personal style. Taking recent garden party dresses as an example, they channeled fresh spring flowers in their own way, such as Beatrice in bright pink and Eugenie in soft serve.
Beatrice, Zara and Eugenie may be the only members of their generation to see the Royal Watchers make several more appearances. Princess Kate had felt enough in her cancer treatment to stand by Charles's side at Trooping The Colour on Saturday 6/15, but GB News reports that Kate Middleton will not attend this week's Royal Ascot run. She last attended the event in 2023 and was wearing a sparkling red Alexander McQueen dress. Here we hope that the whole family can stand together and dress together.
