Demi Moore kicks off the 2010s Gladiator Sandals Revival

Demi Moore's Dog Mom era coincides with her style renaissance. Her little little dog Pilaf joined the Moore family in 2022, but this year the actress began to carry the chihuahua around like a furry accessory - and at the same time leveled up her looks.

Moore went on a sophisticated on-trend in her off-duty wardrobe. She is seen in a sheer Gucci dress, matching pantsuit and wide-legged trousers. But today, Moore has turned down the memory lane, reviving the often forgotten, 2010s shoe trend.

Sitting in the front row at Paris Fashion Week's Spring 2025 Dior Homme menswear show, Moore wore bright white ragsole gladiator sandals, but they worked. Moore paired her strappy sandals with more current trends, Navy Bermuda shorts and a matching oversized blazer, a grey V-neck collar shirt

In the past, Moore was not the kind of pet owner to coordinate looks with her puppies. Pilaf is usually pushed into a trench coat or peeked out of a purse. But today Pilaf played a central role in Moore's costume. Pinned to her collar, Moore had a brooch in the shape of a white cartoon dog. She carried a large white Hermes Birkin bag painted with the same dog design in azure ink, topped with a blue and white floral scarf. On the other hand, she carried the beloved pilaf.

Moore coordinated her divisive shoes with another 2010s trend (albeit persistent, timeless style), black Aviator sunglasses. Even all those years ago, gladiator sandals caused strong opinions on both sides of the style aisle. (Mixed response to Chanel's multi-colored lace-up sandals from the Resort 2018 collection comes to mind. But shoe variations are coming back to the runway and celebrity closets.

Gladiator sandals trampled the catwalk at the Spring 24 show of Christian Dior and Alberta Ferretti. Luxury brands like Celine and Chloe have also proudly re-adopted gladiators. So, are you on board with shoes inspired by ancient Rome?
