If you can express the fashion of the red carpet of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in one word, it is "luxury."Stars from Anya Taylor-Joy to Naomi Campbell have descended on the French Riviera for this year's event. As the dress of actress and philanthropist Aishwarya Rai Bachchan proved, the backstory is often as intriguing as the look itself.

Bachchan appeared on Thursday, 5 May 16, at the premiere of the Megalopolis along with stars Adam Driver and Aubrey Plaza Falgni Shane Peacock Designer told Marie Claire that it took nearly 2 months to create the piece because it was partially made of metal.

Bachchan's gown was coated with oversized gold flowers made of metal, offset by a white overlay over a black train. Before, her dress also had zigzag gold details and sky-high puff sleeves.

"Aishwarya is a timeless beauty, similar to the timeless of precious metals like gold, a color deeply rooted in Indian culture," the design said, while "the inclusion of black is a tribute to her classic style, and her love for floral motifs is showcased by the handmade flowers that decorate the gown." It was a great experience.

Bachchan is known for taking turns sculpting the red carpet of Cannes with exaggerations. For the 2023 rendition, she walked in front of the camera wearing a metal mermaid gown secured with an oversized sequin hood and a huge black bow.

The Cannes Film Festival will be held until the 25th, which means that the red carpet is still in its infancy, and "luxury" will be a valid word in fashion for another week.
