Emma Stone's Cannes 2024 Louis Vuitton gown tests the limits of plunge neckline

The 2024 Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet is a style battle in which celebrities compete for the most dramatic look to decorate the French coastline. 5/17 Friday, Emma Stone made a glamorous entry into a custom Louis Vuitton gown that pushed the definition of a plunge neckline.

Stone arrived at the premiere of Kinds of Kindness, his 3rd collaboration with filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, shining like a nebula in a distant galaxy. Her Louis Vuitton dress, designed by Petra Flannery, was coated in burgundy sequins, shimmering in shades of pink, red and purple in front of a flashing camera, stretching into a small train. And then there was the neckline: a deep and deep V silhouette that ended under the thorax of the stone.

The dramatic shape was not limited to the front. The stone gown also had a deep V shape at the back, highlighting the sheer burgundy tulle. While she kept accessories to a minimum, the one-piece nearly outstripped her dress: a huge cuff set with diamonds and magnificent rubies

Stone also turned to a soft and discreet side for her beauty. Hair stylist Mara Rosac styled her clavicle-length hair into soft curls, while make-up artist Rachel Goodwin made the upper lid thin and lined with black eyeliner, complemented by pale pink blush and dewy lips.

Stone joined her co-stars Margaret Qualley (Confectionery Pink Chanel) and Hunter Schaefer (Armani) on the red carpet.

In collaboration with Flannery, Stone recently selected Louis Vuitton to design her red carpet gown for a major event. At the Academy Awards on May 3, she worked with creative director Nicola Geschiere in a strapless peplum gown in seaform green.

The dress was a sculptural moment — and a viral moment. Stone, who received the Oscar trophy on stage, revealed that the dress was broken at night. Fortunately, she was wearing a shimmering metal party dress (some by Louis Vuitton). All signs point to a stone wearing a different look at a French house this weekend.
