An “unusual” hobby enjoyed by Queen Camilla until tragedy struck in 2024.

Read MoreFirst, Caitlin Clark made basketball history as the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I (both women's and men's leagues) and captured the hearts of viewers when she led the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2024 March Madness Tournament. Now in the WNBA Draft, she is on her way to becoming a professional regarding her sport and personal style.
Clark, the No. 1 pick in the draft, wore head-to-toe Prada and John Hardy jewelry to the WNBA's "Orange Carpet" in New York City. Fashion fans were immediately impressed with the look.
"She's Prada. This makes sense," one fan commented below a photo that Clark re-shared on Instagram shortly after walking the carpet.
"She's Prada," another fan wrote.
The two-time Player of the Year's look featured a satin button-up shacket and coordinating mini skirt. She unbuttoned the outermost button to reveal a glittery bralette top underneath. Prada's triangle logo was also splashed across her accessories, including translucent pink sunglasses, a small top-handle bag, and pointed-toe kitten heels.
At the press conference, Clark said the outfit was a "special" moment in the larger spectacle of the night that defined her career. She said, "I don't think Prada has ever fitted an NBA or WNBA player [for the draft] before, so it's pretty special."
Stylist Adri Zgildea Totos, who specializes in dressing athletes for major signing events and pre-game tunnel walks, admitted to Marie Claire that she coordinated Clark's Prada moment. Says she, "The look is elegant, classic, and timeless, with a little extra sparkle, just like Caitlin." [Dressing athletes for the draft is a first for Prada and a first for Caitlin. Both are cutting edge and too perfect," adds Zgildir Toth.
Prada's triangular logo on the WNBA Draft orange carpet is a delight, but not entirely unexpected. Italian luxury brand Prada sees the potential to win new fans by using athletes as brand ambassadors, and is increasingly investing in partnerships with athletes on and off the field in several major sports. [At the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, snowboarder Giulia Marino made headlines when she competed (and broke regulations) wearing a Prada-branded snowboard; at the 2024 Paris Olympics, several designers, including Prada, will compete for athletes' attention and costume credits. will be competing for the athletes' attention and costume credits.
For now, fashion and sports fans can enjoy both worlds colliding in New York City and watch Caitlin Clark make more basketball history. She just signed with the Indiana Fever, who have a first-round draft pick.
