Contentious elections, brutal pandemics, and a wave of protests condemning racism and police brutality made 2020 an unprecedented year. It was a challenging year to say the least, but it also brought unprecedented movement and motivation to create real change.

Bringing diverse voices together and giving them the platform and power to make a lasting impact is crucial for society to move forward, believes acclaimed journalist and philanthropist Soledad O'Brien (opens in new tab). O'Brien is expanding his weekly 30-minute talk show, "Matter of Fact" (opens in new tab), to launch the "Matter of Fact Listening Tour" to expand one of the greatest conversations in America today. Beginning October 8, 2020, at 7 p.m. ET, O'Brien will lead four virtual broadcasts. Expect to see many familiar faces: the first episode, which will focus on prejudice, will feature Robin DiAngelo, author of White Fragility (opens in new tab); Stanford University social psychologist Jennifer Everhart (opens in new tab); former NBA player Etan Thomas (opens in new tab), sociologist LaShawn Ray (opens in new tab), and journalist Jemele Hill (opens in new tab). Subsequent episodes will feature journalists Wes Lowry (opens in new tab), Maria Hinajosa (opens in new tab), and Joy Chen (opens in new tab), as well as "Black Lives Matter" co-founder Alicia Garza (opens in new tab), Lakota leader activists such as Brenda White Bull, great-granddaughter of Sitting Bull.
