Jennifer Lawrence Finally Returns to Acting - on Netflix

Jennifer Lawrence is finally returning to the big screen on Netflix (opens in new tab), and on Wednesday, February 19, news broke that Lawrence (opens in new tab) will star in Adam McKay's "Don't Look Up". The comedy is about two scientists who discover that a meteorite is about to hit the earth and embark on a media tour to warn the world, only to discover that they are not taken seriously.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter (opens in new tab), as you may know from critically acclaimed projects like Netflix's Dead to Me, HBO's Succession, and the 2018 film Vice No McKay said she is "thrilled" to be working with Lawrence. [She's] what people in the 17th century would have called a 'dynamite act. And the fact that Netflix sees the film as a global comedy sets an exciting and motivating bar high for me and my team," he added.

The Oscar-winning star, who took a two-year (well-deserved) hiatus from acting and a gorgeous wedding (open in new tab) in between, is slowly returning to major Hollywood projects.

She recently completed an untitled A24 film directed by Lila Neugebauer about a U.S. soldier struggling to adjust to life back home after suffering a traumatic brain injury while fighting in Afghanistan.

No word yet on who else will star in the film besides the lead actress from The Hunger Games, but big names are expected, with Lawrence in the cast and McKay taking the megaphone. The film will reportedly begin shooting in April and will be released later this year.
