The Bachelor 2020 "Summer Games" cast: everything we know

After "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" comes "Bachelor in Paradise". Another franchise show this year? And not that weird singing show (open in new tab), but a summer version of "Sign Me Up," which was the iconic mess that was the Winter Games! To coincide with the actual Olympics (more on that later), Bachelor Summer Games is in the early stages of development, but will be coming soon after The Bachelorette. The full cast has yet to be announced, but stay tuned for more information, so put on your sneakers and come along.

So the real Olympics will be in Tokyo starting July 26, and according to Rob Mills, ABC's senior vice president of alternative programming, the show will air at about the same time, before The Bachelor in Paradise. The show typically debuts in early to mid-August, while "Bachelor in Paradise" often ends in late July.

[Summer Games] is its own thing, with Bachelor in Paradise followed by Summer Games," Mills said (opens in new tab).

"The nice thing about the Summer Games is that when we did the Winter Games, the Bachelor was still on the air."

Of course, it will be filmed earlier than that, so there's a good chance they know spoilers.

Director Mills also confirmed that this will be authentically sporty. They are not messing around, so the contestants should be sporty, he said. Mills said they have found a great location, but specific details have not yet been finalized. Here's a look back at the Winter Games trailer and the "sportiness" that went on there:

Hello, Dean!

What's surprising about this is that an international Bachelor Show alum could be a potential contestant. Mills also said that the list of potential contestants includes some big names. "I mean, I'd love to see Jordan [Rogers] or Colton [Underwood]," he said, adding that Roger's significant other, JoJo Fletcher, would "love to do it." Hmmm, but what about Underwood's girlfriend, Kathy Randolph?

Interestingly, everyone on the above list is in a relationship, and Mills admits as much. Unlike "Paradise," which is about falling in love, dating, and drinking on a Mexican beach, this show may have an athletic, competitive atmosphere that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with coupling. But let's be real here: it's a bachelor show, and some bachelors will want to get messy. I refuse to accept anything less.

I will update this as soon as I know more details.
