Item to wear to death: adidas track pants

In this bi-weekly series, our editors share their "to-die-for" items, whether it's a basic white T-shirt or an ultra-trendy jumpsuit. Get ready for guilt-free shopping (and your credit card).

Portland, Oregon reminds me of my loving family, gorgeous vineyards, home-cooked meals, freshly brewed coffee, crisp green fields, and my beloved Adidas track pants. They say home is where the heart is, and these pants, purchased in my hometown, are definitely where my heart is. My attachment to these track pants has taken me by surprise. Growing up, Portland was not the trendiest city (pardon the pun). Instead, it had other things like great art and lots of cute dogs. But slowly but surely, Portland's (open in new tab) ever-growing population brought fashion alive.

In 2015, Adidas built a huge campus in Oregon. In return, Portland residents received special treatment. This included exclusive sales and access to collaborative products only available at PDX. One day, on a shopping date with my mother, I walked into the Adidas headquarters. Despite having an all-access pass, I wasn't expecting to find anything good. This was because all I could think of was workout pants. I was proven wrong the moment I saw these sneakers.

To create these limited edition pants, adidas collaborated with Amsterdam-based designer Daniele Casali. The green tonal patchwork, deconstructed silhouette, diagonal white stripes, snap buttons, zipper panels, and wide-leg flare all add to the look. I wasted no time in trying on these bad boys in the fitting room. First impressions: I loved the retro vibe, which could be paired with any style. I was very comfortable with the way the elastic stretch band fit my stomach. Plus, it's high-waisted, so I could pair it with a crop top for my hot-girl summer. I'm obsessed with black clothing, so I also bought these pants in black, and when you buy an item in two colors instead of just one, you know the love is real.

Now, IDK days into quarantine, I am more inclined than ever to dress lazily. Jeans are a thing of the past, and I have a sweatpants-only (opens in new tab) policy. However, to break out of my cozy girlie rut, I am wearing track pants. They're like loungewear 2.0, and they make me feel proper for the day's work ahead.

Before the special order, these pants were literally one of the most versatile items in my closet, worn up or down. The wide leg gives me the freedom to wear them with heels and feel like a stallion on stilts, or with sneakers for a cooler look. Thanks to these cool-girl pants, I made my first Getty Images debut during New York Fashion Week (...) :

Another shot taken the same day. You can see how much these pants make me feel like myself:

They are also fun as party attire. I remember when we could go to parties and snuggle with our best friends. I'm glad I'm alive.

I also love black to death. This is me wearing Blackberry Mountain at the Sephora press tour. The weather was perfect, so I wore them with a crop top:

These pants go with any pattern. For example: I wore this outfit to brunch with friends in the middle of winter.

But in either color, I get a crazy amount of compliments everywhere I go. These pants are the quintessential, effortless, stylish IDGAF pants, which is the vibe I always strive for.

These pants evoke joy, are supremely comfortable, and yet make me feel fashionable and fly around the house. There is power in clothes.
