Tracee Ellis Ross Launches Second Pattern Beauty Line for Genetens

On Juneteenth (June 19), the day that marks the official end of slavery in the United States, Tracee Ellis Ross celebrated the occasion by launching the latest phase of her hair care line, Pattern Beauty. This is the brand's second collection and follows the debut collection launch in September 2019 (opens in new tab), which was based on Ross' personal curl journey (opens in new tab) and 10 years in the making.

The new collection includes more than 15 new styling products, tools, and kits for curly, coiled, and tightly textured hair. Ross said in a statement that the formulas and tools in the collection are in response to what the natural hair community has been asking for: "We've listened and it's been great to incorporate feedback into the development of these new products. I am very proud that the brand and the community are working together to continue to meet the beauty needs of the natural hair community."

The latest drop includes everyday curly girl essentials like edge control, curl gel, hydrating mist, wide tooth comb, and edge tools.

"Bringing styling products to PATTERN was always the plan. Curly, coily, and tight textured people know their hair, the type of products that work for them, and what they want," Ross explained.

At a time when black-owned businesses (open in new tab) have long received praise and recognition, Ross emphasized Pattern Beauty's important mission. In a statement, Ross said, "I was reminded once again of the importance of being a black-owned business and why Pattern has been centered on black beauty from the beginning."

The second phase of Pattern Beauty is currently available exclusively at patternbeauty.com (opens in new tab) and will be available in Ulta Beauty stores and online beginning June 28, 2020.
