Read MoreMy friends, I am overwhelmed. Gabrielle Union has always had an excellent Instagram presence, but for once she may have outdone herself. On Father's Day, Union posted a video of his daughter, Carvia (opens in new tab) James Union Wade, dancing poolside to "Savage Remix" by Beyoncé with Megan Sze Stallion. Union Wade, Megan See Stallion, Beyonce, how am I supposed to handle these emotions?
Union wrote in the video, "Happy Father's Day. Turn Up!" and captioned it! Carvier James..." I highly recommend saving this video in a safe place for the next time you need to cheer yourself up.
There is wonderful news about Union and Wade: Zaya Wade, her 13-year-old stepdaughter with husband Dwayne Wade, took Union's stunning photos for Self magazine and graced the cover of the magazine for the first time (opens in a new tab).
"So proud of @zayawade for her first cover shoot," Union wrote on Instagram. 'She is a tremendous artist and writer. Seeing herself through the eyes of a child is a great learning experience and I am grateful to have been given this opportunity by @selfmagazine," she wrote. Zaya told Self that the experience of photographing her mother-in-law was "pure bliss," adding, "I finally felt like I was doing something I loved."
In the article (opens in new tab), Union spoke about raising black children in a racist, anti-black society and why she rejected the idea of assimilating into white American culture. She said, "You can't put a price on, educate, or distance yourself from racism, anti-blackness, discrimination, homophobia, transphobia, and Islamophobia.
"All those things exist no matter how successful you are. No matter how you speak. They exist," Union continued. 'So I rejected this idea of teaching children to always transform themselves to make themselves more acceptable or less scary for those who are doing their best to oppress you anyway, no matter what you do. I began to reject it."
