How to watch the Queen's Platinum Jubilee event from the USA
On Thursday, June 2, the Queen's Platinum Jubilee begins, a four-day event marking the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's accession to the British monarchy. Royal watchers will be familiar with the Queen's annual birthday parade, "Trooping the Colour" (not to be confused with the private celebrations that take place two months before her actual birthday), and the Royal Family photo shoot on the balcony of Buckingham Palace on the occasion. The 2022 Platinum Jubilee will include all of that and more. Nevertheless, the options will vary depending on the size of the event. But for most Jubilee events, you should be able to watch without a VPN. So, again:
The first official event of the Platinum Jubilee is Trooping the Colour, an annual parade on Thursday mornings to mark the Queen's birthday (again, her actual birthday is two months earlier, in April, but public birthday celebrations take place in the summer). This parade has been cancelled for the past two years due to COVID-19 restrictions, so this Trooping the Colour will be something special. Each Trooping the Color culminates with a royal photo op on the balcony.
Another annual birthday celebration, Lighting Up the Jubilee, made even bigger and better for the 2022 Platinum Jubilee, will feature 1,500 beacons to be lit in the UK and Commonwealth countries and will air Thursday night. [It is the first royal event Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have attended since sensationally leaving the royal family in early 2020. It will take place Friday morning at St. Paul's Cathedral.
The Platinum Party, one of the signature events of the Platinum Jubilee, begins Saturday afternoon and will feature performances by Queen (not that Queen), Adam Lambert, Rod Stewart, Duran Duran, Andrea Bocelli, Elton John and Diana Ross are scheduled to perform. Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lin-Manuel Miranda, David Attenborough, David Beckham, Alicia Keys, Stephen Fry, and Julie Andrews are also scheduled to appear or perform. (11]
On Sunday, there will be a Platinum Pageant beginning first thing in the morning. This series of performances will be themed around the 70th anniversary of the Queen's reign and will include professional performers, military and volunteers.
If you struggle with any of the above, try the Sky News YouTube channel, which, unlike the BBC, is not blocked for US residents.
