Sydney Sweeney, winter maximalism in fur bucket hat and cardigan knit puffs.

Sidney Sweeney went shopping with friends in New York City on December 14, and the Anyone But You star made the most of the cold weather in a down-filled puffer coat covered in a light beige quilted knit. The cardigan-inspired piece elevated the silhouette of the classic winter jacket, which is hard to find in anything but sporty nylon fabric.

Sweeney paired his cozy puffs with an even more eye-catching piece: a Sherpa cashmere bucket hat from Celine. Fur bucket hats have been a staple of celebrity winter street style since 2021, when muses like Rihanna, Bella Hadid, and Emily Ratakowski championed the whimsical style of British designer Emma Blewyn The Y2K trend, also inspired by the baby pink oversized bucket hats worn by Pamela Anderson at the 1999 MTV Music Awards. Since then, many luxury brands, including Burberry, Prada, Saint Laurent, Marni, Loewe, and Loro Piana, have jumped on the texture topper bandwagon with myriad prints and colors, including alpaca fleece, shearling, velvet, and faux fur.

The Euphoria cast balanced her statement hat and coat with wide-leg patch pocket jeans cinched with a tobacco brown leather belt and an ivory crew neck sweater from Banana Republic. She paired it with a winter white manicure and Amina Muadi pointed-toe ankle boots with exaggerated flared heels.

Sweeney's “more is more” approach to red carpet dressing also extends to her personal life style, as seen in her transformation at the 2024 Met Gala and her Angelina Jolie cosplay at this year's Vanity Fair Oscars party It's also a very personal style. Even for casual occasions like a weekend outing in Soho, the actor couldn't resist adding a few more statement accessories: a Loewe squeeze bag with gold chain and brown leather, and black cat-eye sunglasses by Chloé.

Obviously, the more, the merrier - especially when the weather outside is terrible.
