Queen Elizabeth's last words to Sarah Ferguson were a heartfelt goodbye.
As the former wife of Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson was very close to Queen Elizabeth. In a new interview, the Duchess of York revealed the Queen's last words.
Queen Elizabeth died on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Ferguson shared some incredible last words the late Queen Elizabeth, whom she called “Mamma,” said to her. 'Before she died, Queen Elizabeth said to her daughter-in-law. She knew me my whole life and loved me,” the Duchess of York revealed.”
Despite knowing the queen since childhood, Ferguson revealed to the magazine that she remained “nervous” about spending time with the monarch. The Duchess explained, “She was the Queen of England.”
Queen Elizabeth clearly trusted Ferguson implicitly, as she left her beloved corgi to the Duke and Duchess of York when she died.
In the same interview, Ferguson shared her unchanging support for her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, despite multiple scandals. Speaking at length about her marriage, the Duchess of York said, “I loved Andrew completely and totally ...... 100 percent and would do it all over again.” She continued, “He is the best, he has a wonderful heart, and he is a kind man.
Ferguson also said she would stand by Andrew no matter what happens in the future. 'I won't let him down,' she said. 'He supports me as much as I support him. He has supported me through everything, not just my marriage and my divorce."
Ferguson also stated that he has been there for her through everything.
The Duchess of York also revealed to The Sunday Times that she and Queen Camilla have become close friends. This revelation will come as a surprise to many royal fans, as Ferguson was a close friend of Princess Diana.
Explaining how their friendship developed, Ferguson said, “Queen Camilla was close to my mom [Susan Barrantes, the Duchess of York's late mother]. Diana had been my best friend since I was 14 years old. So it's a very big deal that the Queen and I are close now.”
