Millie Bobby Brown Shares Video of Her Good-Bye Speech at the End of “Stranger Things” Filming
After five seasons, Netflix's hit horror hit “Stranger Things” is coming to an end. Fans will not have to wait until the final episode airs (currently expected sometime in 2025) to fully grasp the end of the series, but the cast and crew had to say goodbye when filming for the final season ended (this milestone, Netflix confirmed in a December 20 X-ne Twitter post).
“This is the end of Stranger Things, see you in 2025,” Streamer wrote in the post, along with a collage of images from the “Stranger Things” set.
Netflix may have kept the post short, sweet, and generally calm when it came to Stranger Things ending for good, but Millie Bobby Brown had a much more emotional take, as she is human and not a giant corporation.
The 20-year-old actress, who got her break as Eleven on the series when she was just 11 years old, shared an emotional post on Instagram, including a carousel of seven photos commemorating her time playing the character.
She didn't say much in the caption of the post (it was simply “With love, el ❤️”), but she did let the words flow in a video at the end of the carousel. That was where Brown shared clips from her last day on the set, where she read a moving speech in which she compared closing the series to graduation day.
“And doesn't graduation bring relief,” she said, “like being happy to say goodbye to teachers and classmates? I am not. I'm not ready to say goodbye to you guys,” she said to the audience of cast and crew gathered around her as she read the message from her phone (as if the emotion in her voice alone could do that, proving that she really meant it).
Brown kept her statement (or at least the part she tried to share with strangers on the Internet) brief, adding at the end, “I'm so glad you're here, I'm so glad you're here, I'm so glad you're here. I love you, thank you.”
The “Maiden” actress was not the only cast member to post a parting tribute as filming on “Stranger Things” came to a close. On Friday, Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler on the show, shared a carousel of three of his favorite images from the shoot.
“‘Stranger Things’ season 5 just ended. I'm still in shock. We filmed for a year and I miss all of my friends and our characters terribly,” he wrote in the caption of the post. 'When I think of this show, I think of this first picture. A bunch of goofy young people making what they think is cool. We are still those people and I am lucky to be around them today. I hope you all love this season as much as I do. See you next year. Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on the series, shared his own tribute to Stranger Things in the form of a top 10 list of what he appreciates most about the cast and crew.
“Growing up, I always felt like an outcast and didn't know where I fit in. Navigating life in the spotlight with these feelings, exposing awkward times and embarrassing moments to the world, was definitely an unusual experience. But I was honored to share it with my amazing co-stars who understood it in a way that no one else could,” he wrote in a personal note at the end of a long post caption. 'Stranger Things' was not just a job, it was a lifelong dream. Thanks to Duffers, my dream became a reality. Thank you for taking a chance on me, a kid of only 10 years old, and entrusting me with something so important to both of us. This cast and crew worked together to create something very special. Stranger Things is a never ending story for me and will forever be in my heart. ❤️”
Sadie Sink (aka Max Mayfield) also highlighted her gratitude in a post marking the show's final day of filming.
“It's the end of the series of ‘Stranger Things,’” she captioned her carousel of behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot.
“This show, these characters, everyone involved, they made me who I am. It gave me the most amazing childhood. I met my best friends. It is so hard to say goodbye, but I leave with memories and love that will last a lifetime. I am eternally grateful ❤️”.
