Are “Ultimatum” Season 3's Chanel Watkins and Micah Hardman still dating?

Spoilers ahead for “The Ultimatum” Season 3 Episodes 1-5. Dating reality shows demand a lot from their contestants, but perhaps none more than Netflix's “The Ultimatum” (though its sister series “Love Is Blind” is a close second). This controversial series puts couples through the ultimate commitment test. Couples who have “broken up” are put through a trial marriage with a new partner to determine if the original pair is ready to get married. In Season 3, two couples decided to part ways early and dramatically: Vanessa Hathaway and Dave Adams, and Chanel Watkins and Micah Hardman.

Chanel and Micah's exit made viewers especially curious about this couple, who had less screen time than the other pair. After the ultimatum, fans are now wondering if Chanel has taken the next step from girlfriend to wife. Read on for a breakdown of Chanel and Micah's brief stint on “Ultimatum” Season 3, including whether they will return for a Season 3 reunion.

By the time they appeared in “Ultimatum” Season 3, 27-year-old Chanel and 28-year-old Micah had been together for two and a half years; they had been through some tough times together, and Micah even recalls him helping her with her work when she was an Uber Eats driver. Micah is close enough to call Chanel his wife, but it's not enough, and when confronted with an ultimatum, she says she doesn't want to be “constantly called wife, but nothing comes from it. [But Micah says he doesn't think it's the right time to marry Chanel because she is just starting her marketing career and he doesn't want to derail her career. He tells her, “You're going to be my wife,” and that he wants a house, kids, everything, but his hesitation is about timing and whether she is really ready. If Micah goes through the process and still doesn't have an answer for her, Chanel is ready to leave.

After a temporary breakup, both Chanel and Micah jump into speed dating with other cast members, but it is hard not to think about the other person. Chanel eventually hooks up with Dave, and both feel sorry for each other as they are both confronted with ultimatums and anguish. Meanwhile, Micah befriends Mariah, who gives her boyfriend Caleb an ultimatum. At the Choice ceremony, Mariah and Micah form a friendship and share their belief that they can take on the challenge of a trying marriage.

When Chanel and Dave choose each other, the already emotional ceremony is filled with tears. It is clear that it is only on a friendship level, and Dave and Micah have been building a friendship since they met on the show. Still, Micah seems visibly uncomfortable. Micah seems (perhaps for the first time) to fully understand the situation as he tells Dave to make sure his “best friend” Chanel is safe. As Chanel and Micah wipe away their tears, later that night, around 3:00 a.m., a camera in the program's apartment caught both Micah and Chanel leaving their new place, with Chanel returning at 8:00 a.m.

Chanel and Micah do not air many scenes with Dave and Mariah, the spouses in the trial. All we see during the big breakup is that Micah and Mariah are clearly awkward with each other, while Chanel and Dave seem comfortable, but Chanel is still focused on Micah the whole time. By the start of episode 4, Chanel and Micah had disappeared from the show. The title card is revealed after Mariah and another cast member, Nick, find their apartment empty. Later that day, surveillance cameras caught them packing up. Dave, Vanessa, Micah, and Chanel quickly departed, abruptly ending their experience.

Since season 3 of Ultimatum premiered on December 4, neither Micah nor Chanel have spoken about their sudden departure from the series. However, there have been some updates.

Chris Coelen, CEO of the show's production company, Kinetic Connect, revealed in an interview with Variety that the departure of the two couples was different than what we saw on the show According to Coelen, Micah left the production without speaking to anyone, The producer then told Dave, Vanessa, and Chanel if they wanted to leave the show.

Fans have also speculated that Micah and Chanel may have decided they did not want to experience the emotional roller coaster of a reality series.

Though they did not share an official statement, Micah and Chanel offered a powerful message to those wondering about the status of their relationship after filming. On the day of the show's premiere, the two posted a photo from their joint photo shoot on Instagram.

Judging by their IG post, it seems safe to say that Chanel and Micah are still going strong, and we'll have to wait for the two themselves to reveal whether they took the next step in their relationship after the shoot to find out if they ended up getting married.

However, it seems unlikely that they will share an update on their Season 3 reunion; in an interview with Variety, Coren admitted that Chanel and Myka did not attend the reunion taping that had already taken place.
