Speaking from personal experience, choosing an engagement outfit (because let's be honest, we always know it's coming) is one of the most stressful choices in the wedding process. Since the formal engagement shoot usually doesn't take place until months later, you'll want to start your engagement with this outfit. Your outfit should be stylish, of course, but it should also have a romantic feel that is appropriate for the occasion, and newly engaged Selena Gomez rose to this challenge with aplomb.

Last night, the pop star had a “said yes” moment with boyfriend (now fiancé) Benny Blanco. She posted a photo of her (large) marquise diamond engagement ring and the “fit” she wore to receive it. The photo shows Gomez sitting in a meadow surrounded by cozy blankets and Taco Bell (seriously, enlarge). For the evening picnic, she opted for a shaggy fur coat in a luxe sandy shade featuring huge statement shoulders.

For the bottom, the “Single Soon” singer wore her favorite pair of light-wash jeans. The $120 denim was Gomez's favorite this fall; she wore it again in October with a black leather belt and a blazer-style wrap top. For this engagement, however, she kept it more casual, pairing it with white high-top sneakers instead of heels.

Underneath the fur, the “Only Murder in the Building” star wore a fluffy black sweater. Blanco, on the other hand, wore his usual whimsical color combination. He layered a pink striped button-down over a sage green long-sleeved waffle T-shirt.

Blanco proposed with a gorgeous white gold pave band with a huge marquise diamond (4 or 5 carats at a guess). Gomez conveniently chose the perfect engagement manicure and showed off a simple clear coat to complement her new sparkler.
